This morning Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen spoke to an almost full audience in Waterloo at the Space Apps Challenge. It was a perfect talk for a general audience and was moderated by James Slifierz, CEO of startup SkyWatch, organizer of the event.

Innovation, Science and Economic Development Minister Bains introduced the final 17 astronaut candidates today in Toronto. They include ten members of Canada’s military and seven civilians.

It’s getting down to crunch time for the remaining 32 astronaut candidates. In this video of “Astronaut Wanted – Episode 3”, the candidates go through a second series of aptitude tests pushing them to their limits.

Today the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development announced that the Canadian Space Agency was once again looking for astronauts, the first call for astronauts since 2008. SpaceRef first reported this yesterday as the likely announcement.
