The last time SpaceQ caught up with David Saint-Jacques in March 2022 — the only flown astronaut on the Canadian Space Agency’s (CSA) four-person active roster — he was using his training as a medical doctor to aid with COVID-19 care in Montreal, in addition to his CSA/NASA duties.

David Saint-Jacques is a medical doctor, engineer and astrophysicist who is Canada's only flown current astronaut. NASA’s Down to Earth – Shining Oasis series has a new feature with David Saint-Jacques of the Canadian Space Agency.

When astronaut David Saint-Jacques arrived at the Canadian Space Agency headquarters for the first time following his six month mission aboard the International Space Station, he received an enthusiastic welcome.

Adjusting to Earth’s gravity affects every astronaut differently, for David Saint-Jacques getting his equilibrium back to normal has been one of the issues.

After six months in space, David-Saint-Jacques and his crewmates, NASA Flight Engineer Anne McClain and Expedition 59/Soyuz Commander Oleg Kononenko of the Russian space agency Roscosmos landed safely tonight at 10:47 p.m. EDT.

Two days from now David Saint-Jacques will return to Earth after more than six months in space and setting a Canadian record for the longest duration mission. On June 19 he participated in his last on-orbit media event.
