As the government prepares to release a new space strategy which may or may not be considered a Long Term Space Plan, it might be a good time to get acquainted, or reacquainted, depending on your depth of knowledge, with Canada’s previous Long Term Space Plans.

Today’s federal budget included a few surprises for Canada’s space program. The space sector had become accustomed to expecting little or no mention in the annual budget. Perhaps as this is an election budget, the government wanted to cover all its bases.

Conservative MP Jay Aspin (Nipissing-Timiskaming) announced on Wednesday, November 26 that he was the Chair of a new Parliamentary Space Caucus that will focus on the priorities of the space sector. Aspin is also the Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Aerospace Caucus.
