Vancouver-based Earth observation company EarthDaily Analytics has been awarded a $1.2 million commercial optical Earth observation contract by the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

Awarded under the NROโ€™s Strategic Commercial Enhancements (SCE) Commercial Solutions Opening, the contract will allow the agency to evaluate EarthDailyโ€™s commercial multispectral imagery for potential integration into U.S. national security and intelligence architectures.

Eric von Eckartsberg, Chief Financial Officer of EarthDaily Analytics, noted that the selection reflects an ongoing industry trend of integrating commercial space data into operational government workflows. The company, he added, remains focused on “delivering consistent, reliable measurements that enable faster, more confident decisions in complex environments.”

The NRO’s SCE program functions as a mechanism to test and evaluate emerging commercial capabilities. Successful validation during this evaluation phase is intended to serve as a step toward establishing a scalable contract framework to meet future U.S. government procurement demands.

The NRO award is the latest in a series of recent developments expanding the company’s footprint within the U.S. defence and intelligence market. It follows the recent appointment of the company’s U.S. subsidiary, EarthDaily Federal, to the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA) Space Intelligence Council, as well as an eight-figure data subscription signed with an undisclosed U.S. defence contractor in April.

This institutional demand coincides with the deployment of the company’s new satellites. On May 3, six EarthDaily satellites were successfully launched to low Earth orbit aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on the CAS500-2 mission. These spacecraft join the first satellite of the EarthDaily Constellation, which launched in June 2025. An additional three satellites are scheduled for launch later this year to complete the 10-satellite network, which is designed to provide continuous, daily global monitoring.
