At the recent Space Debris Conference hosted by Saudi Space Agency, NorthStar Earth & Space and the Saudi Space Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) related to Space Situational Awareness (SSA). The agreement comes shortly after NorthStar had its first four satellites launched at the end of January.

MDA and Thoth Technology have entered into a strategic cooperation agreement that would enable deep space radar surveillance and space domain awareness from what they state would be “Canada’s first ground-based radar capable of monitoring Resident Space Objects in geosynchronous orbit.”

Magellan Aerospace has been awarded a $15.8 million contract by the Canadian government to design, build, launch, and operate the Redwing space domain awareness microsatellite. Even before NorthStar Earth & Space launches its own satellites, a new novel partnership with Japan’s Axelspace will see them collect space situational awareness (SSA) data from ‘flipped’ Earth Observation satellites.

Montreal’s NorthStar Earth & Space, a commercial space-based situational awareness (SSA) startup, has announced who their launch provider will be for their first three satellites. The three 16U microsatellites are scheduled for launch in mid-2023 and will reach low Earth orbit with launch services provider Virgin Orbit. If all goes well, Virgin Orbit could be well placed to launch an additional 21 NorthStar satellites.
