Today at press conference at the Royal Ontario Museum Treasury Board President Tony Clement announced that MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) will begin building the OSIRIS-REx Laser Altimeter (OLA) for the 2016 mission.

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. (MDA) has been awarded a contract to build a sophisticated mapping system for a joint Canada-US mission to retrieve samples of an asteroid.

NASA today announced that the Origins-Spectral Interpretation-Resource Identification-Security-Regolith Explorer, or OSIRIS-REx mission was the winner of NASA’s third mission in its New Frontiers Program.
