New Zealand-based launch company Rocket Lab announced on Feb 23rd that they’d officially opened a new orbital launch pad in New Zealand for their Electron rockets. The new “Pad B,” located near their original pad at Rocket Lab’s Launch Complex 1, is an important step towards Rocket Lab’s goal to become a premier player in the growing SmallSat launch market. 

Toronto-based Space Flight Laboratory (SFL) has won a NASA Rapid Spacecraft Acquisition IV indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract in which it will provide small satellites to NASA and other U.S. government agencies.

Ceres Acquisition Corp shareholders voted 65% in favour of extending the deadline to June 30, 2022 to consummate a merger. Prior to the shareholders meeting, Ceres had entered into a non-binding letter of intent on Feb. 14 to merge with Maritime Launch Services (MLS). There is one new snag though.

MDA has signed a contract with Globalstar as the prime contractor for 17 satellites to replenish its constellation and includes an option for an additional nine satellites. Bloomberg is reporting that Maritime Launch Service (MLS) is in talks to merge with Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC) Ceres Acquisition Corp. with a combined valuation of US$530M.

Canadensys is vying to lead the first Lunar Rover Mission (LRM) for Canada. To that end it received a Phase A contract last fall from the Canadian Space Agency. That contract has now been augmented with an additional $270,000.
