In episode 8 of the SpaceQ podcast our guest is Ryan Anderson the lead organizer of Satellite Canada, an organization created to compete for a piece of the governments new $950 million Innovation Superclusters Initiative.
Recently the government announced its Innovation Superclusters Initiative where it would invest $950 million in up to five superclusters. Each supercluster will be funded in the amount of $150-$250 million and selected organizations must match the federal funding.
After the government made its announcement Ryan began an effort to create a satellite supercluster called Satellite Canada. Ryan recently submitted Satellite Canada’s letter of interest. In doing so he received 39 letters of support from organizations across Canada and commitments of $328 million from those organizations. That’s quite an achievement, and today I’ll discuss with Ryan how he managed to get the space community to work together on this initiative and what’s next.
