Western University recently held its Physics Undergraduate Conference (PhUnC) which included the keynote talk by Dr. Nigel Smith, Director of SNOLAB. The conference brings together students from Western University with other universities in Southwestern Ontario and some nearby U.S. universities. Undergraduate are provided an opportunity to present their work on a summer research project, honors thesis, or any physics topic of interest, including interdisciplinary physics research. The Canadian Space Agency held a live technical briefing today at Western University to talk about the Mars Sample Return Simulation which began Monday.

The 2012 Canadian Space Summit will be held in London Ontario November 14-16 2012. This is the annual meeting of the Canadian Space Society. This year, the sponsor is the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration (CPSX) at the University of Western Ontario.

Just after 6:00 pm last Monday, a bright fireball shot across the sky, visible from Hamilton to Peterborough. A system of video cameras set up by astronomers captured video of the event which may make it possible to recover meteorite fragments.
