Alberta-based Eagle Flight Network (EFN) and Newfoundland-based C-CORE have announced that they will be working together to build a new ground station in Canada. They have “entered into a MOU (memorandum of understanding) to advance both company’s interests in the satellite ground station services business,” and will “work together to build a robust industry-led satellite ground segment in Canada.” 

C-CORE has also been awarded two contracts by the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) under the agency’s Earth Observation Service Continuity initiative from its Space Technology Development Program (STDP).

The Canadian Space Agency today announced eight contracts worth over $4 million for studies that will explore possible future Canadians Earth Observation systems. Newfoundland based C-CORE will receive $3.2 million in funding from the federal and Newfoundland governments to help the company as it builds capacity for Earth Observation data from small satellites.

Last week the Department of Defence (DND) announced 160 contracts valued at $26.8M for 16 science and technology challenge areas which included 20+ contracts for space organizations.

Four companies have been awarded contracts by the Department of National Defence (DND) for the All Domain Situational Awareness (ADSA) Science & Technology (S&T) program. One of those companies, C-CORE, will use Synthetic Aperture Radar from a High Elevation Long Endurance (HALE) Unmanned Air System (UAS).
