A day after the news broke of the discovery of phosphine in the clouds of Venus, Breakthrough Initiatives announced it was going to fund a private study to search for primitive life in the clouds of Venus and explore the possibility of sending a mission. The study will be led by a Canadian, Dr. Sara Seager of MIT.

You could say that all the past rovers that NASA sent to Mars have been leading up the Mars Perseverance rover mission. The rover may look similar to the Curiosity rover currently exploring Mars, but there are differences. And it’s those differences that have scientists really excited that they might now be able to find signs of ancient life on the Red planet.

Venus, our “sister” planet, is Earth sized with an atmosphere that some scientists say has been overlooked as we explore the solar system to learn more about Earth.
