Reaction Dynamics (RDX) is getting an opportunity to pitch on the 7th season of Meet the Drapers. A successful pitch could garner them $1 million USD and importantly, open other doors. Tim Draper was one of the original investors in SpaceX.

RDX was founded in 2017 and has since evolved its product offerings. Developing a new propulsion fuel followed by a Canadian launch vehicle was the initial idea.

To that end, the company developed a new solid rocket fuel that is non-toxic. Next the company began testing engine designs to be used on Aurora, their entry level, small launch vehicle capable of delivering 200 kg to low Earth orbit. The first suborbital launch of Aurora is expected sometime this year from Australia.

The company has since developed an in-space propulsion product line of chemical thrusters and will soon start offering a small orbital transfer vehicle, called Micro OTV.

The company says the Micro OTV is “designed for cubesat and smallsat mobility and fitting in a 12U form factor.” And it will provide “point-to-point transportation and deployment of the customer payload in the desired orbit.”

Meet the Drapers episode

While RDX has received over $6 million in awards for various technology developments from the Canadian Space Agency, the company needs a larger funding round to accelerate their plans. They’ve now diversified beyond their original propulsion technology, though they still need to demonstrate that technology in a launch.

The appearance on Meet the Drapers is an opportunity to get in front of an investor audience in the U.S. with the potential to get that funding round started. Certainly, winning the competition will help and it’s $1 million USD prize. There is also a prize for second place, $500K USD, and 3rd place wins $250K.

Jesse Mikelberg, the Director of Business Development is the RDX pitch person. The episode will stream on February 21 and is the lone episode of the year coming in New York. For each episode, and their 11 episodes in total, a winner will be selected and who will compete in the semi-finals.

The audience gets a vote

While the Drapers select the episode winner, viewers can also vote and influence the outcome who makes into final. The top three companies as voted by the viewers will also have the opportunity to pitch during the season finale.

You can watch the show from their website and Tik Tok, and those who want to support RDX can vote here.

In the New York episode, RDX will be up against NoraHealth AI, Lyme Alert and Takenos.
