NordSpace has made its second strategic investment through its venture capital arm to invest in North Vector Dynamics. The strategic investment deepens a technical partnership, pairing NordSpace’s orbital propulsion infrastructure with the interceptor and hypersonic missile programs currently under development at the Calgary defence technology firm.
This marks the second investment of capital by NordSpace Ventures. The division launched earlier this year with plans to invest up to $2 million annually in domestic aerospace and defence firms. Its inaugural investment backed hyperspectral imaging operator Wyvern.
North Vector Dynamics operates in precision interception and advanced propulsion. The firm currently holds a $4.2 million contract from Defence Research and Development Canada to develop high-speed aeropropulsion technologies. Their hardware portfolio includes the CM-70 precision-guided interceptor alongside counter-drone systems, with a long-term engineering roadmap focused heavily on hypersonic flight.
“Canadian-owned, ITAR-free, technically world-class, and building sovereign hardware for the threats that actually matter,” said Rahul Goel, chief executive officer of NordSpace. “This investment lets us move faster on the areas where our roadmaps meet, and that our country needs.”
The capital injection directly supports NordSpace’s broader defence ambitions. Both companies participate in the Hypersonic Innovation Micro-net, a research consortium funded by the Department of National Defence.
NordSpace introduced its Supersonic and Hypersonic Applications Research Platform (SHARP) in 2025. That program relies on vehicles like the Sabre and Arrow to test high-altitude tracking and intercept capabilities. By investing in North Vector Dynamics, NordSpace secures direct access to complementary flight dynamics and missile guidance expertise.
For its part, North Vector Dynamics gains access to the manufacturing and testing infrastructure behind NordSpace’s Hadfield-150 rocket engine. Bringing these two technical teams closer allows them to pool resources on shared aerodynamic and propulsion challenges.
