Yesterday was to have been the deadline for Maritime Launch Services and Isar Aerospace to work out the details to build a dedicated launch complex at Spaceport Nova Scotia. However, in a press release the companies said they need extra time.
The companies have extended the deadline to Sept. 15, 2026 to give them more time to complete the statement of work as they “continue to make strong progress through an intensive and productive planning process.”
The release stated that “the extension does not change the other key terms of the facilities usage agreement.” Those terms include a handover of the designated launch pad to Isar Aerospace by Nov. 1, 2026, and the completion of additional spaceport infrastructure by Dec. 31, 2027.
Stephen Matier, president and CEO of Maritime Launch Services, said the two teams are “working through the detailed planning required to advance this important program,” and that the extra two weeks will let them “complete that work and maintain the strong momentum we have established together.”
Alexandre Dalloneau, vice-president of mission and launch operations at Isar Aerospace, said the added time will let the two companies “finalize the remaining details as we move toward execution of the program.”
The companies said the first orbital launches are still targeted for 2028.
