Space Policy in Canada is “going through some real deep reflection” and needs a national space act, this according to David Kendall, Chair of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
While Canada slowly reflects on its domestic space policy and laws, some real progress was made at the recent UN COPUOS Scientific and Technical Subcommittee 55th session held in February. Nine new guidelines were agreed to, bringing the total to 21 of 27 proposed guidelines agreed to in the last 8 years.
David is a faculty member of the International Space University and was a Senior Executive at the Canadian Space Agency during his long career. While trained as a scientist, David has become an important leader on global space policy and law.
