As Canada pushes for its first-ever human Moon mission and lunar rover in the coming few years, a new research unit in “lunar engineering” at Polytechnique Montréal aims to boost Canadian resources and infrastructure in that field.

NASA may be headed towards a big strategic win in the next few months. With the scheduled launch of Astrobotic’s Peregrine Mission One on January 8th, and the coming Intuitive Machines IM-1 mission scheduled for mid-February, the agency could see the vindication of its long-term strategy for lunar mission privatization, and take another step towards a permanent American presence on the Moon.

Canadian astronaut Jenni Gibbons who will serve as backup for the Artemis 2 moon mission in 2024, recently spoke on Canada’s role in lunar exploration and her training at an online event hosted by Exploring by the Seat of Your Pants.

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) announced Wednesday, December 13th that it was providing $2.9 million to four companies for six projects for sustainable lunar exploration.
