BAE Systems has selected MDA Space to provide key hardware for the U.S. Space Force MEO Epoch 2 constellation. Under the agreement, the company will design and build antennas and antenna control electronics for the satellites that monitor ballistic and hypersonic threats.

This contract integrates MDA into the Epoch 2 program, an important component of the U.S. multi-orbit missile defence architecture. The program aims to track sophisticated missile threats from medium Earth orbit. BAE Systems is the prime contractor for these satellites, having recently completed a preliminary design review for the project.

This work follows previous MDA contracts for the Space Development Agency transport and tracking layers, as well as the initial EPOCH 1 constellation. The consistent selection of MDA across multiple U.S. military space programs shows a sustained demand for its satellite component manufacturing, something the company has spent years building up.

โ€œBeing tapped by BAE Systems for the SSC missile warning satellite constellation affirms our capabilities in delivering reliable satellite solutions for critical defence missions,โ€ said Mike Greenley, CEO of MDA Space. โ€œAs governments worldwide boost their national security spending and invest in the space domain, our robust product portfolio, expertise and high-volume production infrastructure set MDA Space apart to meet the growing demand and keep our partners safe today and into the future.โ€

No value was released for the contract. The contract was added to the company backlog in the first quarter of 2026. The satellite components are expected to be delivered into 2027.
