In an ongoing Canadian Science in Space video series, the Canadian Space Agency’s Tim Haltigin explains what are asteroids and why do we study them?

This particular video was created because Canada is a part of the OSIRIS-REx asteroid mission. The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft is on its way for a rendezvous with asteroid Bennu which is a near-Earth object.

According to the Canadian Space Agency “asteroids can tell us about the earliest days of our solar system.”

The OSIRIS-REx mission is a seven-year journey and will include collecting a sample of the asteroid and brining it back to Earth for researchers to study.
