NordSpace has postponed a suborbital test launch of their Taiga small launch vehicle scheduled next week from the Atlantic Spaceport Complex (ASX) in Newfoundland.

They are now targeting no earlier than March 2026 for the Taiga launch. NordSpace posted an update on their website citing weather as one issue, but the primary reason they said was the new DRDC IDEaS Launch the North challenge which has a January 9, 2026 due date for applications.

NordSpace said the “team has determined that it is the most effective use of the next several weeks to continue our focus on advancing our orbital-scale technologies including engines, tanks, spaceport, and procedures and submit the most competitive application possible for the competition.”

NordSpace had previously tried to launch the Taiga from the ASX in September but a reported fuel issue caused them to postpone the attempt.

NordSpace also posted an update on X on Dec. 4 regarding the development of their Tundra orbital launch vehicle. That vehicle is meant to be “portable” and “fit and be transported in only a few standard sea containers” for what the company said makes it a responsive system capable of a launching within 24 hours.

“NordSpace is proud to announce another major orbital launch program milestone. Alongside our ongoing orbital hardware development, we have successfully completed the high-fidelity trajectory and flight dynamics model for our Tundra orbital rocket after 2 years of intense design effort, thousands of simulations, and hundreds of physical tests.”

NordSpace is one of several companies that will enter the IDEaS Launch the North challenge.
