As Canada prepares to accelerate its military investments, a coalition of domestic manufacturers and technology firms formaly launched the Alliance of Canadian Defence Companies (ACDC) on Tuesday, creating a new lobbying front to strengthen the country’s sovereign defence-industrial base.

The new trade association which represents Canadian-owned and Canadian-controlled defence manufacturers, technology firms, and suppliers includes 23 companies at its founding.

Familiar to SpaceQ readers are companies such as Canadian Strategic Missions Corporation, formerly Canadian Space Mining Corporation, Reaction Dynamics, NordSpace, Canadian Rocket Company and more.

“Canada has exceptional defence builders, but they have not always had a unified mechanism to coordinate and advocate collectively,” said co-Chairs Eliot Pence, founder and CEO of Dominion Dynamics, and Paul Ziade, co-founder and CEO of North Vector Dynamics, which together provided initial organizational support to establish the Alliance. “ACDC exists to strengthen domestic capability, support export-ready platforms, and ensure Canadian-controlled companies can have their voices heard and are positioned to deliver as defence investment accelerates.”

On its website, ACDS teased that it would hold its first conference sometime this year.
