The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has released a new request for proposals (RFP) related to the Lunar Utility Rover (LUV).
This RFP is specific to complementary technology development for the proposed Canadian LUV expected to launch no earlier than 2033. There are three companies working on LUV concept designs, Canadensys Aerospace, MDA Space and Mission Control.
In a post on LinkedIn the CSA elaborated on what is publicly available on the CanadaBuys procurement notice outlining the following specific sub-systems aligned with the LUV:
- Structures
- Mobility
- Command and data handling
- Electrical power
- Thermal control
- Guidance, navigation and control
- Communications
- Payload/Sensors/Tools accommodation
- Harnesses
- Manipulation capability
- Ground segment
The RFP added that the CSA “requests Offers to provide services to develop additional technologies to support Lunar Utility Vehicle (LUV) concept progress outside of the main Rover Phase 0 and Technology Development contracts. The overarching goal for the Complementary Technology Development (CTD) Work is for the Contractor to achieve Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) between 4 to 6, depending on the initial TRL proposed”
Proposals are due no later than March 25, 2026ย atย 2:00 PMย EDT.
