MDA had added another satellite constellation order to its current backlog, this time for an undisclosed customer.

Canadarm and satellite operator MDA saw revenues soar 19 percent year-over-year, and increased profitability, in its third-quarter results released Wednesday (Nov. 8).

MDA didn’t waste any time in completing the acquisition of the SatixFy Communications Ltd. digital payload division.

MDA is once again going to launch a satellite on a SpaceX Falcon 9 launch vehicle. This time it’s for the CHORUS satellite. Previously, MDA was the first commercial customer to launch with SpaceX for the launch of the CASSIOPE satellite on September 29, 2013. SpaceX also launched the RADARSAT Constellation Mission trio of satellites in 2019.

A medical robot based on the Canadarm has recently passed FDA review. Called the Image-Guided Autonomous Robot (IGAR), it lets doctors perform surgery while a patient is inside an MRI scanner, allowing for more complex and difficult surgeries with greater reliability. The Canadian Space Agency has announced over $1.7 million in new funding for concept studies related to scientific research that may be performed on the Artemis Program’s Lunar Gateway station. This follows a Request for Proposals in December of 2022.
