The Canadian Space Agency and NASA Test Lunar Technologies

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has been invited by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to test technologies and concepts for lunar exploration. The joint nine-day field test takes place starting this week in a volcanic area near Hilo, Hawaii. A Canadian built rover will test procedures which may ultimately prove that water can be obtained from lunar soil.

Canadian Nanosatellite Workshop Report Released

CASI ASTRO 2012 Nanosatellite workshop final report

The final report form the First Canadian Nanosatellite Workshop recently held on April 23 in Quebec City has been released. Organized in conjunction with the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute (CASI) ASTRO 2012 Conference the workshop was a result of a previous Canadian Space Agency workshop in 2010 which recommended the establishment of an annual Canadian forum on nanosatellite activities.

Dextre makes the cut: Wire Cutting task is a resounding success!

After completing operations with the Multifunction Tool, Canadarm2 repositioned Dextre to cut the first of two wires, each about as thick as four sheets of paper. With surgical precision, and only about a millimetre of clearance, Dextre captured the wire in the Wire-Cutting Tool (1:14-1:32).
