Canadian Scientists Share Their Thoughts as the Curiosity Rover is Set to Land on Mars

Canada is playing an integral role as part of the Mars Science Laboratory mission and the Curiosity Rover which will attempt landing on the Red planet early Monday morning at 1:31 a.m. EDT (10:31 p.m. PDT). On board the rover is an Alpha Particle X-Ray Spectrometer (APXS) Canada contributed. The APXS determines the elemental chemistry of rocks and soils using alpha particles and X-rays.

Russian Soyuz Launches with COM DEV exactView-1 Satellite

A Russian Soyuz-FG vehicle launched early Sunday morning from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan with five satellites onboard including COM DEV’s ExactView-1 as a secondary payload. Other satellites included the primary payloads of the Russian satellite KANOPUS-V1 (Canopus-B) and Belarusian BKA satellite and other secondary payloads MKA-PN1 from Russia and German TET-1.
