MEOPAR and exactEarth to Host AIS Workshop

The Marine Environmental Observation Prediction and Response Network (MEOPAR) and exactEarth announced today they are holding an worksop on September 24 and 25th in Halifax with the theme Automatic Identification System (AIS): Applications, Analysis and Data Management Technique.


It was last October that MEOPAR and exactEarth entered into a partnership with the goal to
hold workshops on best practices with AIS data management.

The workshop will take place in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the Hollis hotel.

The goals of the workshop are as follows:
– To communicate between attendees – current techniques and approaches for handling AIS data with aims to analyse and use within the Maritime domain
-To identify and discuss wants, needs and ‘use cases’ with respect to AIS marine traffic data
From stakeholders’ / decision makers’ perspective
From researchers / analysts’ perspective
– Gauge: potential for forming a Community of Practice (CoP) with periodic engagement (i.e. webinars, Expert Fora, workshops)
