The Canadian Space Agency has released the second of a three part series of videos where six of the remaining astronaut candidates share their thoughts on the inspiration that made them dream of becoming an astronaut and to pursue that dream.

This episode features astronaut candidates;

  • Evan Thomas, Montreal, Quebec
  • Charles-Philippe Lajoie, Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec
  • Michelle Whitty, Winnipeg, Manitoba
  • Jason Leuschen, Murrayville, British Columbia
  • Joshua Kutryk, Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
  • Alex DeLorey, Montcon, New Brunswick

The 17 candidates will know very shortly who among them will be chosen to be an astronaut.

Their training begins August 1st and they and their families will need to relocate to Houston and be settled in before training starts.

Of note during this episode, Chris Hadfield who hosts the series, said from his perspective the current astronaut candidate class has had it “tougher than I did”, noting that he spent five months going through the recruitment tests as opposed to 11 months for this class.
