A Conversation with Brigadier-General Kevin G. Whale, Director General & Component Commander – Space

At the CASI ASTRO 18 conference SpaceQ had the opportunity to sit down and discuss the state and future of Canada’s military space component with Brigadier-General Kevin G. Whale. It was an open and informative discussion.

Canada’s military is adapting to the new reality that the space component in an integral part for Canada’s defence forces. In so doing the Canada’s new defence policy, Strong, Secure and Engaged, includes not only policy language with regards to the space component, but a long term plan, including initial funding that will see space component almost triple in size in terms of personnel and acquire new capabilities starting with the RADARSAT Constellation Mission which is expected to launch this November.
